Tanja Porčnik

Mag. Tanja Porčnik is president and co-founder of the Visio Institute in Slovenia. Porčnik is also an adjunct scholar at the Cato Institute in Washington, DC.

Porčnik is co-author of The Human Freedom Index, the most comprehensive annual freedom index so far created for a globally meaningful set of countries.

She was formerly a senior fellow at the Atlas Economic Research Foundation, a Government Teaching Fellow at Georgetown University, and a Research Associate and Manager of External Relations at the Cato Institute.

Her articles on trade policy, international relations, and human rights appear regularly in printed media, and she is a frequent commentator on television and radio.

Porčnik is currently working on her PhD dissertation in American Studies. She received her master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Ljubljana and her bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics from the University of Maribor.
